Kitchen Sinkery
I did smile to myself over the weekend about you guys who are anti working from home and what you'd think of the following; I had to soak my 14" naylorbase ring for the SOF competition - it didn't fit in my kitchen sink - had to do it in the bath
Bathroomery!Admin - I think Pussy Lover suggested there should be a section for homeworkers to post. I think this is a great idea, then it can be avoided by those who are not interested. What do you reckon?

It depends on how you define kitchen sinkery.
I work from home now, as I am solely internet based with silks..... but I have had shops since 1980's and only started with internet last year. I had to close my shop and move to this end of the country for family reasons, and as all the tiny towns within 25 miles have established florists, getting another shop up here is not going to happen. I have full books for accountancy, just like I did for the shop, pay my taxes and account for every penny. I dont have the overheads and staff that I used to but neither do I have the turnover. I have thought of going into the wholesale side as there is very little choice up here, but at the moment I don't feel the commitment that that would need, maybe I am getting lazy in my old age ![]() I don't think of myself as a kitchen sinker, but maybe others on here do. |

![]() Floralpride is right in terms of 'defining the kitchen sinker'. People work from home for a variety of reasons - whether thats financial, because of children or location etc. I fully understand where the shop owners are coming from. And I think some of their irritation unfortunately hits out at other professionals when it is really intended against those who do not have the skill or creativity and turn out shoddy, below standard work. I don't see an issue of working from home if you are professionally set up, pay your taxes have insurance etc and are charging market rate and not undercutting the retailer. It wouldn't be my choice to do it on a full time basis as I'd rather have the customer interaction but I wouldn't rule it out to start off with part time either. ![]()
