Hi
I am doing sale or return with 2 or 3 post office/newsagents just now. Not exactly how I envisioned myself as a florist but it is working. Obviously it's not the mainstay of the business, but I put a business card in with every smal bouquet so it gets my name around the place and increases turnover. As long as the flowers are of good quality and the presentation is nice then it can't do you any harm I feel, it's getting your name out there and recognised, so that when bigger events, like funerals and weddings come along or a more special bouquet is required then they will know the quality is good and your name is automatically familiar to them. Don't expect to make a fortune from it though it is more a p.r. exercise |

I o9ffer 10% 15 at a push, as you won't make a lot of profit yourself as you always have to bear in mind they will compare you to the supermarkets as far as small bq's are concerned. They should go with it as it is money for nothing for them. It makes their shop more attractive and offers another service to their customers.
I take the flowers along already in water and vases so they have nothing to do and can't grumble about any hassle to them Good luck |

The shop seems pleased, we don't do sale or return with them, they call us up and let us know how many they want for that week. The benefit of the arrangements is that they seem to last longer. Apparently they sell more at the weekend, ladies like to buy them for the table over the weekend. They are not exactly the height of contemporary design but they are saleable to the demographic the shop aims for...

Thats interesting, I had someone ask me about my Christmas wreaths recently. Unfortunately I will not have the time before Christmas to make enough bases to supply both me and him, but next year I will start doing my bases much earlier and have a go at supplying elsewhere. I agree with what you are all saying, you have got to be flexible to survive expecially when you are only a small florist in a quiet location.
