Fire Extinguishers
Hi, I have just had my 2 Extinguishers serviced, took about 5 mins cost £30+vat Is that about right? (I would like to earn £30 for 5 mins) All he did was put a yellow clip on both of them, and dusted them

i've not had mine done yet bought them new last year but I remember the from other shops they were expensive for not a lot of work. You do have to have them serviced though

Mine are £25 plus vat to be serviced so it's about right I would say Phal. (a couple of years ago a company serviced them for £19.50 +VAT but they went bust last year )

I threw mine away and bought a new foam one to hang on the wall. Think it cost about £50. Seemed to make more sense than paying £30 to have an old rusty one looked at

I don't know if it is law to have themWe had them from our previous business,so brought them to the shop. The landlord of the shop said we had to have a fire assessment, that cost about £100.00. Never done anything with the report they did, in fact I don't even know where it is.

I've got a feeling it's only compulsory if your building is covered by a fire certificate...but hey...i don't know everything.

everyone has to do a fire risk assessment now and I'm pretty sure everyone has to have a fire extinguisher.. a general red one should be fine but if you have electrical stuff like a pc etc you could do with a carbon dioxide one too
