I always charge whatever the vases cost me as the hire charge, that way you hire them out and they are paid for and then you sell them at full price and they get paid for again!

I would normally try and cover the cost of them but it does depend on the complete package. If it clinches a deal and allows you to make a decent living in other areas then you'll cover it eventually. I would normally take a deposit of the full retail price so that if they decided to keep them (or smashed them) there was nothing more to worry about. Likewise i wouldn't take them back if chipped or dirty. If you haven't already got the deposit, it's very hard to get them to pay later. They'd normally just drop them off and let you sing for it.

we have a few different types of vases that we use for weddings a lot.
lily vase, martini glass, brandy glass etc...
so the customer won't know the hire charge as we include in the overall cost of the wedding or event.

but they do have to pay full cost if broken or lost. we charge them double the price we buy it at.

i have a small 1 pg contract outlining the terms of hireing our vases, it says

YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE OUR VASES

Our policy with hiring our vases is as follows.

They must be returned with in 3 days of your wedding.
This enables us to clean or replace broken vases for other brides to use for their weddings.

If they are not, a daily hire charge will apply @ £5.00 per day, per vase.

If we have to collect them, a collection charge will be applied of £50.00

All breakages must be paid for; even if it is not your fault they are in you hands and your responsibility.

We will invoice you if any of the above occurs to the cost of the individual vase cost (various prices according to what style you hire)

The vases have not gone missing or got damaged yet but we must cover all possibilities

Please sign and return this sheet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please sign only if you agree with the above. If you do not sign and return this sheet you will have to supply your own vases.

Kind regards
Melanie.

they are all ok with this....
