This is probably another one for admin to shed some light on and explain the logistics of delivering to towns and cities in the UK in an artic. As much as we all have problems with our local deliveries, whether it be time, fuel, parking problems and the value of the order, this is multiplied 10 times when you are driving a 40' lorry. At the end of the day they are trying to earn a living and that must be governed by how many drops they can physically do in a day and the total volume sold. I don't know what sort of margins they are working on but i shouldn't think it's that high. If you pend a hundred quid, they may be lucky to earn twenty. Out of that they have to cover fuel (from Holland) and the cost of keeping that rig on the road. I used to run a 17 tonner so i know just how expensive it is. I know it sounds as though i'm a wholesaler, but just trying look at it from both sides.
