Thats for sure one of the things that gets me down at MDAY for certain, basically reproducing the same or very similar item over and over again(you begin to doubt yourself as to wether what you have in your hand is indeed "nice" anymore)of course it is,but the sheer volume takes away/dulls the pleasure of creating, negating the florists juices if you like!!!!
An engineer customer of mine summed it up quite nicely,he can create something out of steel that you would marvel at the engineering of,the tolerance the scale working to within a milli thousandth(whatever that is)and this item has to fit exactly another equally as brilliantly precisioned item, but when you've filled 3 skips of these precision items you no longer marvel/bask in your achievement....I SORTA GET HIS POINT AFTER THE PEAKS,DONT YOU?

TOTALLY over em... HATE them with a passion....

Actually when I was a junior I used to look forward to them - loved the pressure of it all but now Had enough - think as I am getting older I am getting very tired and cranky

Valentines is the worst, followed my Mother's day.. As ours is in May, I still have it to look forward to - NOT -

if i had to pick.

If somehow forced to put in order of preference, least disliked first
1,VALENTINES,reason,men are easier and usually quicker to deal with than women, and you are only really stocking one lead item(well sort of)not as much variety.
2,Christmas,it just starts sooooooooo soon and drags on and on and the selection is vast, and you deal with women tediously slow.
3,Mothers day, sheer volume of orders, time constraints(only 24 hours in a day)which leads to late nights, exhaustion, brain ache!,oh yes and women tediously slow(when your pushing to get on)
To sum up i would rather have the trade shared nice and equally around the 12 months in our year.

I take back what I said earlier about not minding Mothers Day. Due to my lisianthus problem (see Mothers Day complaint thread), now I am stressing that the 90 stems of lisianthus I used at mothers day are all dead in peoples houses and that they think I am a crap florist.

me too, i am a women but i really dont think i am that slow when ordering from a shop and never feel the need to tell someone my life story when they are so obviously run off their feet....

Men just throw the money at you and generally like what you make as long as they are not in the dog house but women want to know the inns and outs of a ducks arse.

i am very glad its over but was well needed after the quietish november dec jan.

Am sick to death of doing hand tied bouquets in boxes. Think we did about 120 orders in the end ( i am sure there are people who did more but i was quite happy with that) and obviously people walking in etc etc. I too look at them after the fiftieth and think that they look awful and begin worrying about sending them out. In reality they look nice but you are just sick of looking at the feckers

Anyway looking forward to the weddings now. At least you know what you need, can do the majority the day before and then just dress the venue. Bobs you uncle and all that. Just hope this so called recession doesnt set in and people start cancelling. Fingers crossed or i am finished

I am too worried about that. Put lisianthus in every bouquet i made on the sat and by the sunday the ones in the buckets were certainly looking tired. What was your complaint.

Quite enjoy the scope for girly pretty things at Mothers Day. And the fact most guys order for their Mum, Mother-in-Law and wife at the same time.

But when the wives do the ordering they ALWAYS spend £10 or £20 less on their Mother-in Law than their own sainted Mama, who must get the best of everything, fuss, fuss fuss! It's hilarious!

Valentines Day blows and I love Christmas. I HATE the no-mans land between Xmas and New Year. And January, period.
