Got a MD complaint
It happened today, got a complaint from a regular re their Mothers Day flowers.
Apparently all the flowers had drooped from Sunday. So, I sent driver up to get the flowers and when he brought them back the problem was with lisianthus. (They also complained about the viburnum drooping - had to explain that it is supposed to be like that & snapdragon that the bottom flowers had gone in - will have to teach about dead heading). Anyway, the water was really smelly but the lisianthus was totally dead. I will replace the flowers but I am now really stressed as a lot of our hand-ties has lisianthus in them. The house is particularly warm and the kitchen that they keep them in has an aga cooker & underfloor heating which would explain the smelly water. Do you guys think that the house is just too warm for lisianthus (& therefore any of the softer flowers) or do you think I should be stressing that there was a problem with the lisianthus I got for Mothers Day ? Thanks for any words of wisdom. Flowerfool |

I had one yesterday, she said that all her flowers had died. So i went out to pick it up to take back to the shop and replace it. The roses had drooped but everything else was fine. Wasnt until i got back to the shop that i discovered that the water in the vase was warm!!
![]() Replaced it for her anyway and gave her a small bunch just to say sorry. She was nice enough about it, not a biatch or anything... but had to hold my tongue and not call her a silly so and so about the warm water! |

I couldn't believe the water in the vase I got back - really smelly the way it is when I used to do fortnightly contracts in a warm hotel.
How long would you expect lisianthus to last in an averagely warm house ? I'm finding more clients wanting the pretty country flowers but their expectations of life expectancy doesn't seem to be realistic. Amanda, was the water warm due to the heat of her house or do you think she put warm water in the vase ?? Surely not. Flowerfool |

Yeah Lizzies can be a swine in a warm room - but they are so lovely everyone asks for them! I would go with the bad batch theory unless more complaints come in!
