If we feel the customer only wants to spend as much as our minimum we do say it would be worth their while paying that little bit extra for the delivery as they will get better value for money...

Well Jake this is how i work it.

If somebody orders a H/t at say £25, I take off £2.50 for cello, that takes it down to £22.50, then i divide that 22.50 by 4 which = 5.62, which is my make up time cost, then 5.62 x 3 = 16.87, which is what the customer gets in flower value.

Same with arrangements, but instead of dividing it by 4 i do it by 3.

This is what i was taught years ago while working in an interflora shop so ive just stuck to it really.

I keep instants done on display starting from £10,,,they are just 2 bunches s/cars and bit of foliage but done as h/tieds,,and they fly out cos sometimes folks just want a little something,,they cost me next to nothing and it gets me repeat trade. Obviously bigger ones would have different flower in!

I dont actually have a driver, I do them myself. I cant afford a driver as would not need one all the time (not sure how people work it out cause sometimes i can have no deliveries in a day which would mean driver just doing nothing). p.s ignore my ignorance but what is a gw

I charge for delivery, whilst others very near to me do not. But whilst they claim its free delivery I know they hide it in the flower value. It`s what you can get away with!! To Charge or NOT to Charge that is always a BIG Question.

I do have a driver tulip but as the same as you some days may not have any deliveries. What you have to do is get an old retired geezer who is trying to keep himself busy with a bit extra pocket money on top of pension instead of someone who really needs a steady wage. I found there are quite a few about who dont really need the money but just want to keep busy. I write what he delivers in a pad and tot it up at the end of the week. Hes happy, Im happy, customers happy......in fact everyones in stitches
