well my o/h went for a snoop to the Asda and skegged out the flowers on offer at m/d. he said that the stems were all week, small heads on some flowers and you got nothing for your money, he is not bias at all, he will tell anyone the cold truth (hard as) if its shit then you know. (I don’t let him see my comp stuff!! hehe)
So I’m going to buy a mixed bunch and compare it to ours.... I will put it outside next to ours to show ppl what they could get if they bought from a reel florist, and I’m not going to go all designer and posh, bog standard like for like and see what happens....the grade of flowers will show them up I would think...
At mother’s day I put signs on our table nr the flowers and plants and got good feed back; building my confidence that not everyone likes the supermarket flowers. one said " who the hell would buy dyed flowers !!!! " and that "the s/m were dear and had put all their prices up to cash in", I think they will dig their own graves and get too greedy... they may get a lot of impulse buys and convenience buys but if I convert some then it’s better for florist shops.
Oooo I may do a s/m collect day, collect you flowers for home on your way back from the s/m!!!

i am definately going to join in with this when i can actually get out of the shop and into a sm for sure. Am looking forward to it. there was another thread on here a week ago with suggested logos and signs to put next to them that sound really good. for instance reason 499 to use a real florist, every little helps and loads more but cant remember. Definately worth a read though. Good luck and let us know how you get on

I'm definitely going to do something like this.
I might actually do some kind of window display. I have a double fronted shop, so might really go to town and put supermarket flowers in one window and my own in the other. I'm thinking of doing some kind of big posters showing a countdown of how long they lasted and change it each day. I get a lot of traffic building up outside my shop and always see people looking in as they drive past. I want to get people hooked at looking each day to see how they're lasting.
This is still an idea I am working on because I want to have all my facts and really do it properly, but, I am definitley going to do it soon- cant wait!!
Can you tell I'm a bit excited?

tulips i put signs on my m/d display table out side and it was a hit! i have them saved so we can polish them up with any more that sound better.
