Thank you for your response jake and I do see your point of view. However, in art and creativity the eye of the beholder can have very different opinions and as such i personally do not believe there is any fact in the matter, only opinion. Your post did sound quite abrupt but I accept your assurance that it was not intented this way. I personally like my flowers to look quite striking when photographed which is why i prefer a darker background and what i was doing in this thread is just sharing that thought. We are all probably as experienced as each other and to have someone pointing out that you are in fact wrong about something is not very nice to hear.

I prefer grey, but that is immaterial of the fact grey is a good background. I'm sorry you don't believe the fact, and that is entirely up to you. I do believe in facts, and I wish I could find the source to back it up. Oh well, if I do, I'll pass it on, if you're interested f.y.i. ![]()

I do have to disagree that white looks cheap tho...properly used it can be very effective hence why many professional floristry photographs are taken with white backgrounds. I also guess it depends how clever you can be with Photoshop. But remember a bad photo will always be a bad photo...theres no amount of tinkering in Photoshop that can rectify that, believe me I have tried!

I think much of it depends on how much you want to do with the photo. I always take mine on white as it makes it far easier to edit it out if I then want to transpose the subject onto a predesigned background image. The only time I wouldn't use white is if my design contains white flowers as then photoshop gets very confused!
