Hi all,

I've got an order for a black & white cat funeral tribute (for Wednesday), and I can't beleive in all the time I've been a florist I've never actually had to do anthing like this!!!

Got the frame (oasis one, not val spicer) and me double whites/ black spray/ eyes & nose/ ribbon & bell for collar - and no idea where to start!

Will the flowers cover over the green backing foam, or should i spray it all black while i'm covering the flowers for the black patches???
How do I define the legs & tail outlines if some bits end up black on black??
What's the best thing to use for whiskers?????



We did a personalised tribute at college made from a designer board, but we had ages to plan it & I picked an easy one (kareoke machine for someone who liked singing!!)

Firstly ........ I would never use one of these frames....... I will explain why after you've done it ...... for now you need to stay confident that you can do a beautiful black and white cat.

Draw yourself a copy (to scale) of the markings on the board so you can refer back to it.

Visualise.......visualise........ visualise! Don't start this until you know exactly which bits are gonna be black and which bits white! Draw yourself a sketch.

Base it completely flat and do not worry about the colour or any of the detail until after. You can not create a 3 dimensional creature from this frame!

Stay confident ....... use silver spray to mark in the outline for the tail shape and the leg shape. It won't hurt if you go a bit wrong with the silver as it will cover easy with the black!
When you're happy that the detail outlines are looking good then get your latex gloves on honey you're going in
Spray the tail and the legs black (or patches if you need to), when they're dry give it an outline of silver again. THIS IS SO HARD TO PUT INTO WORDS! You may find it helpful to use a bit of card held up right along the silver outline while your spraying. When you do the next black bit use the card again so you don't spray over your outline.

If you mess up a bit the silver will get you out of trouble as it covers the black.

Your details will make this tribute and draw the eye away from what you don't want to see! Go for it with the collar and place your facial features over and over until he has an expression.

A little single rose spray will also distract from the black.

This is so hard to put into words ........ I will try to find a pic that demonstrates the technique......... leave it with me.
