i would agree with this and maybe keep the same colours, have the same concerns as Rock about being very established. Or possibly if you do change maybe keep the same font or colour so that it is obvious that it is the same people, unless you market it as " same owners, different name or something like that. very interesting one, i panic about changing a leaflet colour!!! |

I wouldn't worry at all about rebranding, people are generally blind anyway and won't even notice, your regular customers will still keep coming cos they know where you live and what your phone number/website is. You might lose a few stick in the mud customers, but then you might gain a few too so I don't think you have anything to loose. There's loads of marketing mileage to be had out of it too.

Sorted
I'm glad you bought this thread up again today... I have made a decision
![]() I have been giving this some thought for a long time and have been really helped by your comments etc. THANK YOU As much as I loved the "F" in flowers idea and we had a great laugh with it for a few days I have decided to just tweak what I have. It was a bit of a scary prospect changing the name completely as the shop is so well established and I'm the first to say "if it ain't broke ....... don't fix it". I wanted something that would bring it up to date a bit and make it "work" for me online as well as in print. I am working on creating a proper logo today (this will be fun as I have only just learnt about graphic design formats and the word VECTOR meant some thing completely different yesterday!). Any way I have decided to rebrand all my stationary and tweak the name to: jennifleurs.co.uk for flowers Colchester When I have worked out my new logo I will post it for some feedback. CHEERS EVERY ONE ![]() |

Think you are right
I haven't commented before but think your decision is the right one. If you look at all the re-branding exercises in the high street its the style that changes not the name. M&S is the classic ... same name but new font, new styling and the very clever addition of Your .. to imply ownership of/involvement in the name by the customer. A good strap line is as important as the name itself ... think about Tesco ... every little helps, Morrisons ... more reasons/reason 438.

Really thought a lot about your point PL and did think of adding the strap " for real florist in Colchester" or something like that. Everyone bangs about driving traffic to your site as important and intend to push the "real" aspects more on the site itself.
Thanks Carrie! That's very reassuring x P.S just read your post again ..... Good point...... I will mess around with the "YOUR" word. Last edited by Treen; 28-03-2008 at 12:44 PM. |

Sounds like a cue for another active discussion. The idea of self promotion and aggressive marketing. Not very 'British' is it? But hey...take another look at the Tesco's and the Sainsburys. They didn't get there by sitting back and waiting for the customers to find their shops. It's a whole different world today and in some ways if you don't adapt and take a good hard look at how you operate, you just might get left behind.
