I wouldn't say it was cheap, but then it may not be overly dear either. If they're doing your vat and depending on how far you take your accounts yourself.
I used to do the profit & loss, balance sheet, trading account, accruals & prepayments, depreciation etc and the figures didn't really change much when i got them back. I paid a bit less than that but it really does depend on the amount of work involved.

I pay about £1300 but all mine does is prep my year end accounts and files them, plus my corporation tax return, plus is there for the odd bit of advice if I need him. I did moan about his charges cos I have a finance background and prep everything pretty fully before I send it over to them and he's now become a regular private customer of ours

Thanks everyone for your replies, I really appreciate your comments. Its just every time I make something, someone wants it, at the moment its the accountant, soon it will be the VAT mans turn again...............sometimes I wonder why I torture myself with this lark, then I make someones day with one of my fabby designs and then I remember........unfortunately for my bank balance, I love the job

i use a bookeeper rather than an accountant who charges me by the hour. She does my requi every month when my statement comes in but ob i update my own books. Then she does my tax returns. Bet i pay on average £20 a month but i am not vat registered. I work out my own profit and loss etc as i like to keep an eye on it monthly myself.
