Totally lazy so if someone has covered this ignore me - read the first couple of pages and didn't see any double AYR listed - I am always getting last minute wreath work and they often won't have a spray or loose work so I try to keep some doubles in for wreaths etc. Also you may notice (as I did when I first opened) customers have a habit of asking for a "wreath" when actually they mean anything at all in the funeral range from a cushion to a spray to a MUM tribute - so get them to clarify otherwise you could do yourself out of money! Try to push loose work as they actually look much larger and better value, and especially older folk like the old VFM thing.

Hiya, my shop opened two months ago and i knew, even after workin in ordering for bigger shops, it was gunna b a huge challenge to decide what to stock in my first week. I sold next to nothing! Im sorry to agree with other ladies and gents, but a lot will be lost

I stock the bare minimum. Enough to do 1x5 white and pink £3.99 bunches and 1x5 orange and yellow bunches. Dont think i stocked more than following my first week:

1x20 wax
1x10 cheap roses
1x10 cars
1x25 germini
1x50 ruscus
1x mini orchid
3x5 alstro mixed
bear grass
5x3 cheapo lilys
5x5 chrysanth bunch

This was 10 days before valentines so it was all hugely expensive!!!

It took a few weeks before i dared to stock roses and lilys ( i find asiatics last longer, dont bother too much with cheapo stuff unless for bunches)

I know it looks bad to the customer but my saying is 'if you wanted something really special, than i shall get it fresh in for you tomorrow', seems to work very well

Even now, i dont stock roses for the sake of it. No telling the orders that you'll get. Leather leaf is a godsend for arr's as im sure you will know, but use it up, doesnt last long. Hard ruscus is fab.

Remember that wax flower i bought on my first day? Ashamed to say but its still rotting in the back room. I cant part with it just yet! As for keeping dead bucket, i only had 1st funeral's on this week! Good luck! x
