to be honest i view everything from a commercial point of view and unfortunately when you are in business you cannot just do what you like. If my till is full i am happy and what gets the money there i am not too bothered about. Balloons have their place in life and whilst i would like to provide flowers for 18ths 21sts and the like in reality it just doesnt happen. I pride myself on being a business women first and florist second. Its only this way that you can change it from being a lifestyle choice to a profitable business.....

yeah ian you're right, the lower end brides in our shop generally have balloons and it is nice to be able to get all of their business isn't it. I used to really detest them but i really dont think they are that bad and do create a party atmosphere and there is a good profit too.

Sorry! ....me again!! Putting my five pennys worth in!! I agree with you Tulips, some of the bottom end brides what something on the tables but sometimes can't afford flowers so balloons are a great subsitute. As you say, as long as the money comes into my till and not the Party shop down the road I am happy. I also think that brides trust the florist better than the Party shop to give them exactly what they want. Having watched the Qualatex DVD's (they are American), it seems to me that they have only one thing for one event. Whereas we can offer so much more!!!
