There are no sentiments in business I know it would be hard to give your little shop up but think it would be better for you if you did go for bigger premises you have the customer base who would stay with you and could build on it get those bigger weddings/funerals etc then when kiddies are a little older and more independant if you still wanted to go for your second shop at the moment think family/home etc would suffer big time as 2 shops would be so time consuming any time not at shop would be spent doing paperwork

Could you not use your shop as the main shop front then rent an industrial unit somewhere else for use when you have bigger events etc?

I think you just answered your own question, if thats how people view your shop based on the size..and you want to do big weddings etc you would be better with larger premises

I know what you mean about the main street you are on, but shops come and go all the time I'm sure you'll be able to find something suitable

1st shop I worked in was there for 25 years then she decided she needed bigger premises moved to different area of town to bigger premises which was the best move she ever made 40% increase in business stayed for 5 years sold up and moved to a village again a small shop but massive yard at back she bought a large garden shed which means all her big orders can be made/stored there your business is established your customers would go with you if you were in another part of town and you would gain new customers

Hmmmm interesting, but are they thinking that because of the size or because of the decor etc. You can't always tell what people are really thinking.

As for other shops coming and going, is that really because of their location? Or how they run their business?

Your shop may well have been there so long because it's good at what it does and caters to a certain market and that's what makes it a winner.

Loyal customers would follow you if you moved.
