can anyone please give me some ideas on how i should prepare for mothers day.this is my first mothers day,i just opened a shop this january.
do people buy soft toys a lot? i got some chocolates and plants im guessing that should sell as well as flowers,but not sure about soft toys
any ideas,suggestions please

Our MD was March but we didn't sell any soft toys flowers plants chocs yes lots of. Have all cello or bouquet wrap cut and ready bows ready if you are doing baskets have them ready with wet oasis etc

Hi I would have as much prepping done as you can would start greening up all baskets etc this week here we also sold a lot of grave arrangements for those whose mothers were dead plant up planted arrangements/baskets etc however much you think you need that number for us would be doubled have a look at some florist sites relay sites etc for your area might help to give you an idea of type of things on offer hope this helps good luck for it hope you have a good one

We do our own promotions for peak periods,take the pictures & put them on a flier and on the web site, so then you can prepare the necessary containers.
we also make up gift baskets, gourmet items and lotions.
every place is different some buy bears some don´t. People seem to like things that have mom or Mother on it here.
We also sell a lot of silk arrangements for graves, oh and single
carnations wrapped for the churches to give to moms,
apart from that get the bows make. I hope this helps Good luck.

First Mothers Day is always very traumatic, like a box of chocolates ? you just don't know what your gonna get. Just have a good selection and not too much stuff that won't be worth a bean the following week. Use it as a learning experience. After m/d, every other day will be a walk in the park. Good luck

when i had my first mothers day my wholesaler really walked me through it and let me order day by day just toppin up, i am not sure what your wholesaler is like. Really helps out with unnecessary waste but like snowdrop said think of a figure and double - i could give you a figure of how many bouquets i have sold but dont want to give you false reading as our markets, areas etc may be different.

I think you have done well with chocs ( i have only just got these in). Teddies i do not do so well with but maybe wrap them in cello with a bit of raffia or attach a balloon?? Also planted baskets did good for me on my first ones and good for people to take to lessen your stress, try to have some pick up and goes ready as you will almost certainly get a lot of impatient customers. range them from (can only tell you in english pounds) £10,£20 and then you could just have some small flowering plants for the kids? Just all ideas.

Hope this helps and good luck - have you done a window and some posters, i always find this helps and stick an a board outside with some balloons on to attract the attention on the day and on the lead up.
