Last one i did was actually a basketball and it had to be orange. Didn't want painted so had to use orange daisy. Very painful as stems are on the weak side. Used a 20cm sphere that sat on a naylor ring. Took 20 stems xanths and the ring was just moss and tree fern for a 'field' effect. I used thin black ribbon to give the stitch effect on the ball. That was about an hours work and it went out at £50. Should have been about £75 but i know i could have done it better using different flowers given a bit more time. Customer was happy and there was a lot of other large pieces so it all averaged out. I would agree with Elaine's price though if you are going to spend the time and get the detail right. If it is the main tribute then you would need to do that. As mine was just an added piece at the last minute it wasn't so critical. There are so many ways to finish a football with different bases etc, you never really know how long it's going to take until you've finished.

No I don't think it is customer can't do what we do and we have light, telephone rent/rates, vat, tax wages etc yes I used to feel guilty but when I had a spell doing accounts as well I soon saw reason for charging for our talent and the guilt left yes on occassions I do have a twinge but then something else appears and it is forgotten as someone else said you need confidence in yourself never apologise for price
