Hire charges
How do you lot calculate your hire charges for, say, vases for table decorations for a wedding? Do you base them on a percentage of the cost price of the vase or what? Ideas gratefully received!

Many thanks to you all - it reassures me that I'm not completely out of line with you! I think the cost price is a good idea when it's a cheaper vase but when it's a big expensive one I think you might have to spread it a bit over time. I suppose it depends whether you've been specifically asked to get it in for a customer, whether they're rich or not and whether or not you like them!!? Obviously, if something's broken that's different...

We charge 25% of the retail price to hire. Then if it gets broken they pay the remaining 75%. The client is responsible for them, but we did have one occasion a few years ago where a table collapsed at a wedding reception and a vase got broken, so the hotel took responsibility.
