Your Colchester Florist for Flowers in Colchester

Ok, so I've only been to England twice (experienced Tesco's "Flowers" last year in August) and I've googled the names of the s-markets etc that I've read on here so I'm just speaking from a distance...but I am a florist after all and I stopped reading the Indy-list at 25 ...'just pop into your local Market...' and 'boxed Scilly Narz...' JMO-thats RIDICULOUS!

I can't seem to see your list Carrington..reason?

Because while I've got the basic list together we want to have all the shops details inclduing websites etc and so it's still being worked on. In addition I have decided as of Wednesday to add some extra elements to it so the shops chosen (and this includes additions as we go on) can be highlighted in other ways in order to get more exposure for them.

That means some behind the scenes data base work and web site upgrades that can't be done overnight. Oh, and just in case anyone wonders, my list has no financial benefit to me or cost to those included. I am paying for the project out of my own funds so that there can be no accusation of foul play.

flower there were a few random actual florists thrown in for good measure, but I agree we should all do something like write to them. Hehehehe a 1000 letters from florists would be interesting

No independent as in owned and run by florists rather than shops that are part of a multi-national company and absolutely no boxed offerings or order gatherers. The latter also means that any florist I know who conciously has a site that gathers orders in order to pass them through a relay company will be excluded! The purpose is an extension of our masterflorist strategy ... designed only to put customers in touch with local florists.

Personally I couldn't give a toss who belongs to what relay company - the only reason we tag any affiliation you hold is to monitor figures and changing patterns in the industry. My ONLY concern is do I think they do a good job and would I be happy to recommend them. On that basis Jim ... and indeed many IF florists ... have my support in their capacity as good shops.

I think it's a brilliant idea.

Can see where Sosas is coming from though, as from the FCH perspective in the Flower Shop of the Year competition they classed Independent as being a shop with no affiliation to a relay company.

I'd forgotten that ... oh Lor so many nuances to take into account! No my definition of an independent flower shop is a privately owned, self run shop. Relay affiliation has no bearing at all as they are purely service providers like BT, British Gas or Dell Computers.

Yeah I completely agree with you... I might offer the facility of a relay service to my customers but that doesn't mean I'm owned by my relay company.
