Florist News

As you haven't had the magazine you won't know what this is about so herewith my editorial strand about this project. In the main it is a list of florists I know/have visited/have sent orders through/have been validated by Master Florist/have been recommended to me without a reason - ie have scored brownie points with friends, aquaintances and clients. In short shops who have made their mark in a variety of ways and who I would be happy to recommend to a consumer to call for flowers.

No doubt I will get criticised (especially by those who aren't on it yet) but having seen what the Independent did I reckon mine carries more weight and what's more ONLY contains independent florists, is not carved in stone so that it can be added to daily and it is open to all florists to be part of. Oh yes and it will be flagged on a national basis to consumer press.

I don’t know how many of you saw it but personally I thought the Independent Top 50 of florists was a complete joke. Not just because the people compiling it took no notice of the advice given to them but because the majority of people they recommended were no way florists.

Excuse me? Since when was a £9.99 bunch from Bunches a florist creation, how could a trip to your local market (consumer or wholesale) be a florist … ye gads where do these journo’s come from???

But rather than just harrumphing a lot I’ve decided the best answer is to compile my own list on the basis I do know a bit about what makes a good florist! You’ll find it on Master Florist Home Page and no doubt will have your own views.

But before you squawk, please remember that unlike The Independent's list, mine can be added to. So if you think you should be on it let me know. I actually happen to be a journalist that listens.

Didn't see the latest one in the Indy, will have to look that up - sounds like a good read.

exactly treen, though unfortunately the unwitting public might actually use this to base their flower buying on. I did read it at the time and meant to have a rant about it then. What can I say apart from it was a load of bollocks.

Somone in my family has been on the receiving end of Next flowers. After witnessing their crap myself, I can honestly say they mustn't have even tested them. Even someone that knows nothing about flowers would see how truly appalling they are.
