Exoctics
Exoctics always good bet.....but only if you can buy them in cheap enough. If you've got to compete with DIY shops who can them get bulk and cheap, it's probably not going to be worth it.
We always had our in 'planters'......soiled filled wooden boxes along one wall, it kept them moist and we could display them 'banked'. Palms, crotons...anything that looks fancy and different.

My bestsellers at the moment are Gardenias, mini roses, gerberas, jasmine. When they are in season chilli plants fly out. I sell alot of plants including guzmania, orchids, aloes, anthuriums, and then alot of outdoor stuff including tomato, strawberry and herbs and olive trees (bit of a food theme going on there!). Its really hard to know what will sell though. Everything except the outdoor stuff is wrapped or sold in gift bags.

What I bought in Holland today:
Aloe-3 different kinds Haworthia Rhipsalis-2 different kinds Clusia Beaucarnea (Nolina) Kentia palm Mühlenbekia Hedera-5 different kinds Senecio-?peas on string? Ceropegia woodii Begonia-the ones that don't flower and where the leaves look like snails! Sanseveria Skyline Crassula-3 diff kinds Zamioculca Asparagus Pilea depressa Chlorophytum 'bonnie'-curly leaves Tradescansia(sp?) Outdoor Astilbe Dahlia-cute little pink ones Mandevilla (Dipladenia) Solanum jasmin Acer-red leaves Lysimachia-little yellow-green leaves ,for garden, come back each year Chamaecyparus obtusa nana (yummmmm!) Delphinium Campanula addenda white lobelien Hosta 'Canadian Blue'(couldn't resist!) Myrtus communis mini trees! and one GORGEOUS Olive tree-2m tall...if its still there when I get back from hols its MINE! ...thats along with the 'usual' summer plants we have at the moment like geraniums and sanvitalia etc. and then my Kangoo exploded! ![]() I love the LOOK of Gardenias but I can not STAND the smell! makes me sneeze all day! Flowering plants for inside...hate the standards like kalanchoes too, usually stick with a green plant and decorate it with alumin. wire etc. We sell alot of plants in pots, if they buy just the plant it usually gets a 'wrap' of fleece-y type of fabric(think its called spider-something-or-other from oasis) wrapped around the plastic pot and some wire and raffia. Lots of orchids at moment...

Our anthurriums seems to be going well...was a bit disappointed about the candle plants' which were lovely, but no one seems to like them...may be its the almost black leaves on them?
Just seems our customers like little things like Kalanchoes and african violets
