how to deter thieves
We don't normally have much outside the shop front because we don't do much with passing trade. But this year I got a load of plants in for a big order of hanging baskets etc and while they were outside and they have been selling.
So I've got some more in and made a really nice display with bedding plants, planted tubs, marguerites etc. I'm one of those people who knows excatly how many of what we have on the front all the time hehe and in the last two weeks we have have about 20 quid of stuff stolen off the front. ![]() I don't really know how to deter them, part of the problem is that the workroom is quite far back from the window and only you can only see the window from one workbench. We have fake cameras pointed at the window so they obivously aren't much of a deterrent. Does anyone have any cunning plans??

Put a sign in the middle, "Smile, you're on camera!"
Honestly though... not coming up with any cunning plans on this one..will have a think though!

try this..
This worked for us(its a total fib but hey needs must)..we have residential property across from shop front...some light fingered rogue had taken a shine to helping themselves(like you not much of a frontage,as not really many on foot passers by)
We placed a fairly prominent sign at front of shop saying that the retired couple across the road were keeping an eye on the shop front..."You have been warned"....the thieving stopped...and we dont even have a retired couple that im aware of living anywhere near the shop...

I think I've won hehehe. I got a few lengths of chains and some metal clips from the hardware shop. When some hard faced sod stole a flippin planted tub from the front
. It seems to have worked, nothing stolen since in over a week (touch wood) I've attached everything apart from the small plants to a chain that runs behind the stand the display is on and just put a sign up saying to ask for assistance with anything fastened. It's not very noticable until you pick something up, but I suppose that's the way of the world now. If it's not nailed down someone will try nicking it
