British Florist Association & Yellow pages

The BFA made an arrangement with Yellow Pages to provide members a generic advertisment under the BFA banner, promoting members of the BFA as amongst the best florists abiding by the BFA Code of Practice and as a sign of a quality florist. The BFA dosen't get any payment/kick back fees from Yellow Pages, it is an opportunity for members to take out a presence in their local book within a block advert at a very low cost.

The BFA have started a campaign to promote our 2,600 members including taking an advert in the Sunday Telegraph last month and last week at Chelsea and indeed for the next four years at all the major RHS shows the BFA will distribute many thousands of leaflets promoting the BFA logo as being the sign to look out for by consumers when they look to purchase flowers.

We will not tolerate any 'hard sell' by our chosen partners, who also include Bridge Insurance, and Lloyds TSB Cardnet. If a member feels they are being given the 'hard sell' then please contact the BFA secretariat on 0844 800 7299 and let us know the details and we'll investigate.

Or feel free to email me directly and I'll pass it onto our secretariat to deal with on your behalf, president@britishfloristassociation.org

Mark,
The Yell sales person who contacted me, when I asked how big the advert would be, told me it depended on how many florists sign up in that area, the more florists the bigger the advert. So if I was the only florist in that book it would be the smallest boxed 1/16 page advert. Not what you have stated above, maybe Yell need a nudge in the right direction. As soon as I said tell me more he went into total overdrive on how good it would be etc etc real hard sell, so having said send me an email with details, thought about it overnight and when he phoned in the morning again declined, then got the even harder sell on how I will be loosing business etc..

cheers
chris

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply, I take very seriously any 'hard sell' by our partners. If you have the details of the rep that contacted you at all, please let the BFA office have them, 0844 800 7299 and we'll look into it for you.

On the size of the advertisement, the smallest (i.e. with one member) is 65mm in a single column, after that the size increases depending on the number of members that go into it, and they will always be listed alphabetically we also insist that only members with a shop in that particular area of the Yellow Pages are permitted to advertise. I hope this reply is of assistance to you.

Kind regards, Mark.
