Like New Girl going to sign lease today!!! Have a spare room full of things and a shed. Just need a WOW window display idea for opening day.
Also any idea what else shld stock in shop , have candles, plants, baskets, cards, candle holders .
Oh yes and how much flower stock would u get for your first week?
Must say despite doing this for 18 yrs feel like a Newbie all over again when it your own

And thats on a very busy main road

How long till you open? LOTS to do before then i.e. decorating, buying fixtures and fittings etc! x

Hoping to open Frday 20 or Sat 21 June, got to get sign man round next week, clean place from top to bottom , get water on etc, oh yes and get phone done -

Can't give you any pearls I'm afraid as still only a lowly student but wanted to wish you all the best and all the best to Amandalou afraid haven't been on here much over last while cos juggling night school,proper job and two kids plus hubby. Keep us posted how it all goes - and maybe in a few years I might be lucky enough to be in the same boat

Make sure you allow enough time for phone and broadband to be connected and get your pdq up and running as soon as you can. This was a nightmare for me when i opened. Too much stress I didnt need!

we opened 2 months ago make sure you have a second book of funeral work that matches page for page your master copy!! this is because if you are lucky enough as we were to have a funeral director walk into your shop and ask if he could take a book with him you will have one ready it took us a week to sort one out but i would always recomend having a second as a back up, we are just making our third so that we are prepared for any eventuality????? we'll see lol, any way just make up a few ready mades at about 3.00 quid put in several buckets out front and watch em roll on in. good luck with all the experience you have i am sure you'll rock

I opened 9 months ago- I cant believe how quickly time has flown by!

For my launch night window and first week I had a huge glass vase in the window, full to the bream with liqourice allsorts and a huge multi coloured arrangement on top with white a black feathers (to tie in with the black and white in the liquorice allsorts). It looked so fab, just a bit different- it got lots of people talking. Many people actually came in to ask about it and say how much they liked it, so I got to meet lots of new possible customers this way.

I bought lots for my first few days- I didnt play the 'safe' card. I thought it was really important to have a good selection to give people a taster of what I would have available in the future. If they came in on the first day and I only had a few measly flowers they might think that was all I'd ever have and not come back- I wanted to excite people with unusual varieties. I definitly didnt over buy, most of it was gone by the time I closed on my first day!!

As add ons we sell belgain chocolates, scented candles and things such as picture frames, lanterns, birdcages, jewellery stands, bag charms etc.These things sell really well for us.
