Just make sure they don't get too hot! Not good for the flowers.

Daylight simulation is best I think as it is the most natural looking.

It's a bit of a science these days. I remember years ago used to buy 'cool white' tubes for the fluoros as they didn't give of the heat that the normal tubes did. Theres such a vast range now that it's worth researching a bit to get it right. But then again...if someone is a lighting designer they will know all this stuff.

I put some of the spotlight fittings in my window but the bulbs would blow in less than a week so i didn't bother turning them on after a while. Complete waste of money even though they were the 'cheapo' ones. Get what you pay for eh

How about a CFL bulb (the twisty ones!)? If you get one with a Colour temperature of 5000 degrees Kelvin (maybye marked on the package) it would show the colours of the flowers better. Can you buy LED bulbs there yet - could be expensive.

BTW, did anyone notice that the spell check on this board tells you that colour is incorrect and that color is correct??? Maybe I didn't see a setting???

Rock on..................

that must be the new word for lighting engineer, I love all these new titles for jobs

I'd think the most important thing to ask your friend how much heat they give off, it doesn't matter how pretty they are etc if they kill your lovely flowers

the ones he has suggested sound a bit excessive though, you also have to think how much the replacement bulbs are and what that will cost you over a year. i've worked in shops with fancy lights and halogen bulbs, in the end they get fed up of buying zillions of bulbs

I had a prof lighting bod come and do the new lights in my shop and I think it was the best investment of all the improvements etc I did when I bought it. It was done about 4 years ago and I haven't had to replace the bulbs in most of the fittings yet, chap said they would last for years and this has been proven to be true.
