i use steel grass for more height and willow when its around, palm leaves are quite good too and cheaper than soft ruscus, for pedestals i use ivy as well to keep the foliage price down

Yep pretty much the same as apple.

Pheonix palm leaves are good and aspidistra leaves, twisted ting ting can be a good alternative to willow too

Cocculus? Aroid Palm? Hemlock? Laurel? Bay?

Just a few suggestions from my handy 'Foliage for Florists' book

didn't you know rosa...she ties bundles together on a long stick for brooms and sells them .... or was it for whips? oi, pussy, I can't remember now

As far as height goes, how high d'you want to go? At the mo I scour the gardens for grasses (pennisetum, china etc) but if I need to go higher still I start cutting the trees!! Well, at least some branches/twigs, take the leaves off if I know they don't last and build up the optical illusion of height. I LOVE using apple trees twigs/branches, especially those from an old apple tree. They have so much movement and character! Fall and winter stuff is dominated with beautiful craggly apple tree twigs!
