Things like sunflowers (nice and bright) little rose plants, olive trees, passionflowers, Gardenias all seem to do alright in the sun. I sometimes move things outside for a sunbathe too like my Cycas trees to show the public whats inside the shop and it looks a bit tropical in the heat too.

Thats exactley what I said. Put a bit of salami on a plates in between the flower vases. Worse thing he only started doing plants when he found out this shop was going to be florist.

What a wa**er. I'd have to go in and ask, be ever so sweet about it though, puts pr***s like that off their stride! Newgirl, get yourself some nice bags (talk to tudor rose, they do em.) Put your plants in em and tart em up a bit. Mr Meat can't compete with that. Also, give me his number and I'll ring him and ask for a BQ to be delivered. See what he says to that! In fact a few of us could ring him, say 'oh you have plants outside I assumed you were a florist?'

I actually tried all that but hardware store, filling station and Co-op up the road also sell outdoor plants and i got tired of taking piles of stuff home. What i do now is have hanging ivy and other pots of junipers and things that "decorate" the front of the shop. Tried putting nice flowers outside too but alot of people around here actually wait til Co-op puts their bouquets on sale before they buy!!! How the hell can i compete with that? So now just make sure front looks nice and occasionally put some of the houseplants outside for an airing. Plus, it's really windy usually, except lately everything is frying - unusual for up here.
