These 6 week holidays are killing me ive took a grand total of £61 this week and spent over £100 on flowers.Its actuallly strating to get me down if this continues i wont be able to pay the bills at the end of the month.Got nothing to do for rest of week and not one order for any time soon honestly dont know what else to do.Its getting me down sitting in the shop with nothing to do.Hope its just the holidays or im gonna be shut by christmas

oohhh leanne dont be disheartened ,you do get slow weeks.Try putting some things outside to draw some attention to the shop,fingers crossed it pics up for you

i know how you feel...................its is crap sometimes!
i took £4,95 yesterday there is no one around.............
thank god for weddings or i would be shut!
i have lots of nice things out side even the dutchie gave me a good offer on ayr to attract ppl but if they arnt there how can you sell!!!!

We actually took 75p on monday, its picked up a bit towards the end of the week but it seems that everyone is having the same problems.

The card shop next door (she has been there for 35 years!) is now thinking about ditching her card sales and concentrating on office supplies and art/craft materials.

She did have a coffee shop upstairs but found that this wasn't profitable so has now let the space out to a young lady who designs and makes wedding dresses. In a matter of 200 yards there is a Photographer's studio, a jewellers who makes is own wedding rings, a shop selling Mother of the bride dresses and outfits, us, the stationers (she sells wedding stationery) and now this bridal shop - all we need now is a gentleman's outfitters and we would have most things covered for a wedding!!!!!!

2 bridal car ppl,
1 limmo, merc and fire engine hire ppl,
2 photographers,
3 make up artists,
3 cake ppl
choc fountain
vase hire and chair cover ppl
4 hairdressers who all do bridal hair and a chimney sweep lol
upton is the capital of weddings hehehehehe
o and i forgot me (and the 6 kitchen sinkers !!!)

Army hall ( you could have your reception there )
Just around the corner there is a hairdressers
and over the cross roads theres a barbers

I agree its very slow this week luckily I have had a couple of funeral pieces and more to come but is it just me but the plants are selling well at the moment, mostly as presents for friends who are looking after animals etc while folks are on hols.

Ok, I may be waaay off here but after reading all your posts about the whole wedding-shebang shops my first thought was if maybe you could form a wedding street-day-thing?! I was at the hairdressers on Wednesday and they have a second shop in the next town which has been in business for 50 years on September the 7th and my hairdresser told me the town is having an Autumn open house on that day and they are having a runway built up on which the hairdesigners are going to style up 6 brides with make-up, hair etc and if I was interested in doing bqs for them while walking down the runway. Of course I am!! We are meeting next week so she can show me the pics of the dresses and mock-brides and I have free hand on what I make! I have a thousand ideas in my head already of stuff I have always wanted to try making. Of course it'll be lotsa work producing 6 bqs, hair flowers and b/h's...but I can make WHATEVER I want!!!

Is this maybe an idea for any of you? Kind of like a bridal fair/day? Getting together with the other shop owners that offer wedding stuff and having an open house or street? Autumn and winter IMO are fabulous for weddings and bqs, there is soo much 'cheap' stuff like fall foliage, fruits, berries etc to make yummy bqs from and it may be a way to get peeps to look at your shop again! Set up a table outside your shop that is set and make an extravagent table dec or make an arch with fall leaves and twigs and berries....
