how much?
we had a prob with a client today...
so please help out.. what would you charge for the following... a foam based arrangement set in a oasis black plastic cylinder vase including following flowers. 3. aspidistra 3. hosta 6. mini gerbera 2. leucedendran (i think right spelling - pincushion protea) 2. anthurium 3. sirroco roses sticks.. with oasis foam squares stuck on them. sisal to fill up. wire to wrap around cello when wrapping and included in the arrangement anyways client paid for it £45 and came to pick it up.. made such a fuss.. i had to add in more flowers. were we overcharging her? |

the problem was that she asked for the black plastic cylinder vase with a orientle theme {did i spell that right} anyway the biggest problem was that she booked an event with us and i think she might cancel. Some days u can really get a bit down

oriental suggests minimal, but i think your costings were fine
remember some people aren't worth the hassle she would probably be a pain in the arse when it comes to the event

im sure your right it just gets me she came into the shop and she made out that we were cheating her out of her money, when i sit and make the arrangement with a calculator in my hand, the best thing is i usually go over the amount anyway. Thats life

It all comes down to 'percieved value' at retail level. Regardless of how much you paid for the flowers or how much time you spent on it, it's only worth the money if your customer is prepared to pay it. No 2 customers are the same are they. It's probably a case of explaining exactly what they are going to get and getting them to agree to it before you do it. Some will be happy some won't. So it's not like you've done anything wrong. just the wrong thing for that particular customer. My last customer on Saturday (who convinced me to close up and go home) pointed to a wrap of dutch blooms., said "how much?" i said 5/4.99..she picks up the wrap and i said..thats 2 buches in that wrap, would you like them all?..oh...i thought it was 4.99 for all that. So she walks out mumbling ...blxxdy expensive in here! You can please some of the people....
