No experience of school age work experiencers, but we currently have a lady who's at college doing her work exp with us. She needs to do x hours in a shop to complete her course. Am in two minds about it as I am not so long out of college myself that I can't remember how valuable shop experience was, and also as an employer I find it nigh on impossible to find good florists and if we don't help them get qualified, is kind of like spiting myself. However.... this lady has stated her objective is to set up doing weddings from home (though she doesn't want to work Sats! ) and asks loads of questions.... So, tis a double edged sword. Also don't be fooled by the free pair of hands thing, you have to have eyes in the back of your head and a long list of jobs to occupy them with She can wire ivy leaves for England now!

Over the years we have had some good and some bloodly awful ones all make up and fancy clothes and didn't want to get their hands dirty but it was only for one day a week for 6 weeks we tried them on the phone/taking orders and greening up and taught them how to put an order through most were okay and all but 2 became sat girls

Cheers everyone. I am not alone! I find it hard enough managing myself let alone someone else! I do have some weddings so think I will get her wiring stuff. I actually did work experience (not at school) in a florist. The only thing it taught me was I'd be buggered if I worked that hard to line someone elses pocket!

I actually don't know what I'd do! Suppose I'd have to get on with it. I did my boyfriends Grandads flowers and they took me out back, I was petrified I'd have to see him. I tend to look at the floor alot if I have to go to the back bit now!

We had an american pastors funeral a few years back all family and friends ordered from us all designer pieces averaging £100- £120 each piece all had to go to his home the am the day before the funeral and then we had to transport everything from the home to the church as well as 5 large pedestals for the church we used the van and 3 estate cars I had the lovely job on the morning of the funeral of pinning buttonieres on all of the mourners as well as the deceased as 'James just loved his red rose buttoniere'

lol.....thats funny, why didnt they do it themselves?

i think i'd be able to do it, ive seen someone dead just minutes after they died and minutes before they died, so i know they aren't much different in between, just a little blue.

Have seen quite a few dead people but hate going to the FD's they really give me the creeps. Went to one once where there was the hugest coffin in the corner and the sound of the saw from the mortary, I didn't bother waiting for a signature, just took to me heels and ran! AHHHHHHHHH But the worse one was when 'Mort' the mortician came out to sign for the flowers complete with gloves and apron on - say no more!!!
