Hi Frizzy no don't think you do get used to situations like that. We have had quite a few younger funerals to do and it is really hard to stay composed. We had a really hard one earlier this year a girl in my daughters class died suddenly and the family came in to arrange the flowers aswell as half the school. I found it really difficult to deal with. I am passionate about my funeral work, it's the last thing you do for someone, the day I stop feeling this way is the day I give up floristry. Take each one as it comes and count your blessings. And while you have to stay professional at the time there's nothing wrong with shedding a tear after they have gone.

It was awful, I'm still doing my work experience and most of the funerals have been old people, this one just got to me. My brother is going to the funeral as I think are most of the town. The staff in the shop were very professional, I did admire the way they handled it, it was just a steady stream of people in all day for the same thing.

we have a an order for a man with a young family this week, it was in the paper he had a motorbike accident near his home. We've not had any orders from his family the item is a motorbike design from his bike club, but I have a feeling that a motorbike will be the last thing his wife will want to see

I haven't actually done that many funerals but I well up just reading the messages that people ask you to put on the cards. Thought it was just me being soft! I have to say though, it really puts things in perspective when you've had a bit of a poo day. Makes you realise things aren't so bad after all.

I must be a heartless cow, because it never affects me at all.
I just get on with it, even when ive been doing my own family funeral flowers for some reason i just dont associate it with death, its only when the hearse pulls up that i start balling my eyes out!! |

im the same. it doesnt really effect me, it sounds a bit heartless but it never really has, i feel for the people who come in, i used to work with an older lady who would get upset about it all the time, but its just not the way i am,
