Funeral Directors

Glad its not only me that gets ingnored by FD who has most of the work in my area. The florist that gets all the work lives next door to the FD, no one else seems to get a look in. The hardware shop in my village sells a few flowers...and they get a lot of the other local FD orders. I get orders if I know the folk. I was advised at college that the FD's expect a cut, I will not stoop to that.

The average cut for FD's round here is 25%!!! The other florist up the road has got them firmly in her pocket. One girl that worked at the FD's always told the 'customers' that there was an alternative florist they could use and we had some good orders. Anyway it kicked off one day when I went down with most of the tributes for a funeral and the other florist only had a couple. She complained to the head honcho and the staff were told not to recommend any other florists - obviously because they weren't getting their cut from us. Our 'friend' is on maternity leave and we have noticed quite a drop in orders since. The really annoying thing is that all the staff say how much nicer our designs are. So bloody frustrating. I wonder how many people know that the FD's get a cut of the flower money aswell?

Exactly before I went into floristry my dad died and the FD was a friend of the family the florist he used was my cousins mother-in-law so she knew who the tributes were for I asked for an all red round wreath for £60 I got a lovely wired foliage circle with 9 red standard carnations needless to say I told her and after that I started to make my own
