Funeral directors contract
Do any of you have a 'regular' contract with a Funeral director? If so how does it work? And just how much cut do they make?
One shop I work in does get fairly regular work via a funeral director but we do not pay any commission to them, however they do seem to share out the work between ther other florists in town. Never come across this in any shop that does as yet...could it be a myth? ![]() |

no unfortunately its not a myth some shops do give discounts or commission to the FD and unfortunately my shop already had an agreement like this when i bought it with a funeral director in my town (which is about two minutes from my shop and the other florist near me does rubbish funeral flowers) the FD charge the customers the full amount and i charge the FD ten percent less, but it pisses me off.. cos to be honest its only very ocassionally i get anything from them and they take forever to pay!

the florist my sister works at has 3 regular fd's on board, and they get so much work they can barely handle it, i have tried to get a contract with one but they are just not interested, and the other florist round me are rubbish

i wont give anything off for them now.
Had one in recently who said he wanted an oasis spray for £60, never seen him before as i'd not long bought the shop. So i made it and delivered it. He came in a few weeks later to pay, and said to me he's only using me this time because the family didnt want his usual florist to do the flowers!! I said £60 please, and he went mad, saying how i should give him discount etc and he doesn't usually pay this much. After a while i ended up giving him £5 off to get him out the shop. Its just yet another one trying to take what small profit we make. |

there is an undertaker in our town, that has their own book of funeral flowers that they always show their customers.
One of my customers told me they had shown them the book and their starting price was £ 60. I wish people would see that if they came direct to us that we can do something probably twice the size for the price |

sixty quid starting price!! sounds like they exploit the vulnerable, suppose they have a captive audience though, the people that go to arrange the funeral will be next of kin mostly liekly and willing to spend more i suppose

Well I have been grovelling since last August, nothing doing with any of the local FD's unless someone makes a huge mistake there's no way in, when I deliver my orders, have a good luck at the other florists work, and ours always looks better, always chat to the FD's still nothing, even send Hubbie in, he'll chat to anyone, they always say just give us a price list and we'll see what we can do, even though I know we slightly cheaper than the rest, they don't want to rock the boat,
