Dutch trip
Went to Holland last week and was taken to the auctions at Rinjsburg, smaller than aalsmeer, but still fantastic. If you haven't been you must go, it was facinating to see the clock and how it all works. We were taken by one of our suppliers so got to see everything, it was facinating to see them bidding for the flowers and then seeing them eventually arrive at the bay ready for sorting and wrapping before being loaded on the lorries. The process between bidding and actually getting the flowers looked really complicated, there are literally hundreds of trollys of flowers and people flying around all over the place. Has made me appreciate the work that goes into getting my flowers and will make sure that the customers realise too when they whinge about prices. The only problems was that we were taken out by the supplier the night before and wined (very) and dined till 1am then had to be up again at 5am, suffice to say I felt a bit jaded! So morale of the story is party after the auctions!!
