Mmmmm, payment 2 weeks in advance of the day is not too much to ask. The cake, cars and catering would all have to be paid in advance not to mention the dress.
Once did a private job in the village for friend of friend, siad she would pay on day and then conveiniently didn't have her cheque book! Then didn't pay for 3 weeks....Never, never again, its to much worry. JUST SAY ITS YOUR POLICY AND THATS THAT. ![]() |

PS.....after the event when the honeymoon is over and they look at their bank balance is when they reallise just how much it cost them. If you invoice afterwards you are opening your self up to nitpicking and quibbling.

I feel so much better aboout the money upfront now, as some clients have said that they never heard of this before,i now know not to believe the client on every occasion and to do what you think is the best for your shop. they dont have to use you if they dont want to.

i usually ask for payment in full one month before the date, but sometimes it just doesnt happen, my first ever wedding in this shop,i didnt ask for that, they paid 10% and then the rest on the day, and to be honest i was worried they wouldnt turn up and its not worth the stress,
if he has paid more than half before wedding thats not too bad, he knows if he cancels he is not getting it back, and if he didnt pay on the day he just wouldnt get the flowers, there is no law that says you have to hand them over without payment in full |

Yep up front always....most places ive worked for say amount in full 2 weeks before...ive done a few weddings on my own now and full payment 3 weeks before as ive been paid by cheque.
Ive my own wedding in august and i have to pay eveyone 4 weeks before in full. x |

our policy is payment in full 2 weeks before, I'm considering making it a month though as if they 'forget' it can be hard to track them down nearer to the wedding.
p.s. I place the order with the supplier two weeks before and wouldn't order the flowers if they weren't paid for!

Well I got the cheque and its banked! I'm sure they kick up a fuss just for the fun of it! My other half pointed out that they've probably paid for everything else up front ie caterers marquees etc etc so I shouldn't be any different. Would kind of ruin the day a bit wandering round with your cheque book paying everyone! Next up is my bridezilla but thats a whole other thread!!
