Last shop I worked in allowed brides to pay final amount on the day until a bride had her flowers delivered and said she was so pleased with them but had not her cheque book as she was well known to the boss she told her to drop it into shop 3 months later balance hadn't been paid so an invoice was sent out we then recieved a solictors letter stating how bad the brides flowers were and bill would not be paid but bride would be seeking compensation from us for ruining her big day boss decided to persue as bride had signed for flowers, delivery sheet had in big letters recieved in good order after toing and froing between shop and solictor bride eventually paid up after that all weddings are paid up in full 2 weeks in advance

Payment has to be made in full 2 weeks before and we ask all customers to sign for delivery. Arrangement is made with bride for time of delivery so someone has to be there other deliveries if no one home try next door if they accept they sign to say they have rec flowers and note put through recipient door if no one around called today card is put through door which asks them to collect flowers from shop rarely does a customer ask for re delivery

New to the forum, so if this may end up in the wrong place!
We always take a deposit of £100 for events then ask for full payment 4 weeks beforehand although we wouldn't normally chase it until 2 weeks before. To put the customer at ease we offer a refund of any over-ordering within certain guidelines e.g. no more than one centrepiece. We've found that this makes the customer much happier to plump for a final number for ordering. Before we decided to go down this route customers would um and ah up until the last minute about how many tables there would be as guests hadn't confirmed. The most we have ever had to refund in one go is 10 chair covers and one centrepiece. We try to follow up after every event to see if the customer was happy. Works well for us. |

Sorry for delay - trying to get the hang of the forum so I know when new messages are being added to a thread.
Based in Bournemouth. Used to be your way until late last year when I realised the business was going to stop me from visiting family down here so moved back home. Been a tough year winding one business down and starting afresh, but the order books nearly full again. Just need some staff so I can do a bit less and maybe get some sleep or say hello to the kids who probably don't recognise me anymore! |
