extra charges for payment by card?
does anyone charge a fee for credit card payments for weddings?
i am finding a lot of weddings phone up to pay the balance by card, which p!**es me off to be honest! I know lots of companies charge a fee for paying by credit card, like travel companies etc but its not generally accepted in normal retail, but weddings are big money and the fee took off your wedding total for paing by card could be quite noticeable. 3% i think? (might be wrong) which on a £2000 wedding is sixty quid!

I don't know how you cost for a wedding - do you show your time/expenses etc as separate items or are they included in the overall cost of the flowers/displays?
I just did a quote for my 1st wedding job and approached it as I would in my day job (cos that's all I know!!) and separated out items such as expenses/travel etc and the client was really impressed - the local florist hadn't done this. If you do separate it out, I would include it in your expenses section but not itemise it but if they ask then tell them. Its not right that the retailer has to bear this cost and not be able to charge on. However, as a consumer, it really p's me off having to pay a credit card fee; I'd rather it was hidden in the cost of whatever I am buying.

making money
Hi,
I'm a cut flower wholesaler in London - I know that lots of florists do charge extra for payment by card or cheque.. It can be quite nice to say to a customer that it will be cheaper for them to pay by cash as you will not incur bank charges. Generally a bride will budget for a wedding, so setting hold of the cash for you shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you remember to ring it all into the till.... ! Ian ![]() |

Ha, my last holiday was a week in the very wet Lake District.... But then again, I'm just the poor wholesaler! My wife, on the other hand, who is a very hard working florist, is off to Australia for 3 weeks..... Guess she not so keen on credit cards!
