bows

any of you out there use the pull bows or do you make your own?

i make my own, the old way of wrapping round so many times depending on size, folding and snipping 2 corners, tying tear ribbon through then pulling out, under and over as you go.... voila.

but........... i do find this terribly time consuming some times, although the costomers love to watch.

which methods do you use,a nd are there any quicker ways.

ive seen one florist overlap each turn and staple, and another just use a few turns of ribbon and tie!!11

i only ever make pom pom bows for funeral sprays, i hate them, i just make ones with 4 loops, but i prefer raffia, i just think the big ones look so old fashoined, but i know that some customers like them, so sometimes i have no choice, i think pull bows are a waste of money though

I don't really use them either. I prefer raffia. The ones that I have made look poo! I only use them if I have to.

we use mainly the organza type ribbon so just two loops on each side they are quick and easy, but the poly bows with loads of loops are time consuming, get a junior or saturday girl to make you a load. If you have them pre prepared so they are just ready to tie on and pull they are a doddle!

When I was training I worked at busy shop that went through hundreds of them a week, they got after school girls to spend hours making flower boxes full of them!

We always have millions of the organza ones prepared at peak times, along with the cello too, saves so much faffing about when you're busy

p.s. i think the pull bows look cheap

Agree raffia looks fab! I bought a load of stuff from a wholesaler who had closed down a couple of years ago and when I saw the boxes of pull bows thought wow these are clever (never seen them before)! But then tried one out and am of same opinion as Sosas - they look cheap! I sell them on ebay (when I say sell, I mean list cos no one actually buys them )
