my driver uses her own car so i pay per delivery.
they start at £2.50, upto 5.00 depending where it is. I have found it very hard to find someone, we went without for months, nobody wants to do it. I had to explain to her sometimes i might have to call her out for one delivery but other times i will group them up, she seems happy but others wern't |

Yes, true, it is really hard to find them. For us it is not a full time job and the hours are variable. Also the work is quite physical at times so while it may seem that it suits retired people they still have to be fit! And it doesn't suit the mums needing to be back for school run either cos we have to keep them til relay cut off time they come in later in the morning so don't always finish in time. We've even had people enquire about the last vacancy who think they can ride around in our van with their newborn strapped in the passenger seat! Good luck!

at shops i have worked at, we always got someone who was retired and just wanted a little extra cash, we always took the delivery money on top of the order and thats the money they got, starting at 2.50 for local and then just depending, could you find a florist/delivery driver, so they could do the deliveries and work when it was busy, would that solve both problems?

We pay our driver per hour they use the company van, I've had problems with drivers been through several in the last few months, we find retired/semi retired people are perfect they work 9-2, but on the basis they work till they've done all the drops. I have three great ones at the mo they all work 2 days each and surprisingly they are all from the pub! well my step dad has known them for years from the local pub. which is really handy cos they all live in the village where I live so if want a day off I just get them to pick the van up from my house and leave their car there

I've been having this dilemma too. Today, for example I've only got two deliveries, one very local so charged £2.50 and one not so local so £3.99. I don't know many people that'll turf out for £6.50. I'll end up doing them myself at the end of the day but I do need to think about getting someone. You tend to get people offering their services then when you ring for help their busy! Such a difficult one.

we have a guy who is a taxi driver so when we need him we call him and he charges us per drop. so we pass on charges to customer. |
