Hi All

Just thought I would let you know about an article in the Daily Express I was reading this morning (18th July 2007). A man was walking past a florist in the local train station, I cant remember the location I will find the article and post it later. He slipped on a Tulip petal he fell quite badly injuring his back. The man was just walking past the florist shop. He was paralysed from the neck down due to injuring two discs in his spine which in turn where pressing on his spinal cord. The gent had a Laminectomy and a Discectomy. Following a 12 month period of rehabilitation, he is now able to walk.

He has just been awarded by the courts £1,000,000 in compensation the judge said the at the florist has a “duty of care”

Bloody Hell! Scary or what!

eek!!!! I was just thinking about that kind of thing this morning all my drivers are...well, lets just say the wrong side of 50 and I thought they are not so physically able to stop themselves hitting the deck if they stand on a slippery leaf like I am, I've perfected the art of balancing whilst sliding across the floor or grabbing whatever is near!

But there's not much you can do in a florist, leaves and petals are always dropping on the floor. I must admit I didn't sweep up in the back till about 12 today cos we were so busy making orders and condtioning at the same time I had a huge pile next to me. I try and keep the mess just near me and not in the walkways of people in and out the back door

thank god for employers liability insurance.. i will make an effort to be more tidy though

I see this on the BBC news last night.

blooming heck!!! thank god for insurance!! as for tulip petals they are the worst but get sick to death of saying to the girls clean those leaves up before someone slips you just know it'll happen one day!!! poor florist i would have felt so bad as they did atually cause that mans injuries...

Just to follow on from my thread yesterday the Florist said in the her response that she will no doubt have to close the shop.
