Floristry students
This is a bit premature, but thought I'd start a thread primarily for those of us on here going back to study in September (Lylee/Bel/Pixie/Frizzytwig - and anyone else in same boat). For me it'll be interesting to find out what everybody else is up to week to week, how assessments are going, project work etc.
Obviously its not exclusive just for us students and any comments from the professionals am sure would be more than welcome, but thought if we had our own thread specifically for school tales then it wouldn't bore the pants off everybody else who's been through it already!

I'll be starting level 2 City & Guilds. Its on Saturdays 10-2pm, and will run from September til June; so doesn't get in way of the day job! Pleased its on a Saturday as think it would be too much to do in the evening after work. What's the timing on yours?

Hi,
I'm doing NCFE Level 2 creative craft in floristry (Fizzytwigm is this the same as yours?), starting in September. I did the level 1 and got my certificate through the post a few days ago! :-) My course is once a week on Wedesdays for 3 hours, and I love it!!! I can't wait to go back.

Hi Newbee,
look forward to swapping stories with you too. Not sure what the difference is between all of these courses - guess we'll find out in September. I can't wait to go back too - I was never like this at school ![]()

Your course sounds more advanced - not exactly sure what level 2 will bring this year. On level 1 we had to do a similar project to yours - common name/latin name - 15 flowers/5 foliage - vase life and any other info we could find out.
For level 2, we were asked what bias we wanted - Interiors/modern or more of the same from level 1. From what I could tell, most of us wanted the Interiors but the course will actually cover funeral/wedding/etc - so not sure who voted for that - the college probably (our tutor said she wanted to teach the interiors version tho). Still, I don't really mind because it's all going to be useful in the real world - hopefully won't have to research Georgian flower arranging etc ![]()

Newbee, I'm curious, what does your creative craft in floristry course cover? All these different courses are a mystery to me, as an employer I guess I should know what they all are, but the colleges don't make it easy, chopping and changing things all the time
