Hey everyone

I've been handed my very first assignment, "Plan, prepare and construct tied floristry designs". Now, I've got it quite clear what I want to do, but I always like to have a point of reference as we have not been given very much information about what they actually expect us to do. So been searching google to see if anyone have their previous assignments online, but I can't seem to find any at all.

My assignment says this:

"You are required to produce evidence towards an overall portfolio covering the 4 mandatory practical units which demonstrate your ability to identify, produce working drawings with labels, state the suitability, care, storage and transportation of each item and calculate retail costs for a range of designs. You will be required to use the formulae of costing up or down. The completed designs must be evaluated using the elements and principles of design."

Which is quite straigth forward, but I'm definitely going for a merit or a distinction on it, and just need a couple of ideas how to add something extra!!

Does anyone know if there is any assignment examples out there?

Hang on a minute.............you are going for a merit or distinction but you want those little extra ideas from anyone else........underpining knowledge counts you will never learn nowt if you dont do it yourself...research my dear reseach

As I am norwegian and have never done any assignment for a school in England it would've been valuable for me to actually see how the set up on an assignment is. Also if it's required to write to someone who doesn't have any knowledge about floristry or if it's suppose to be written aimed at a reader who has.

I would never be interested in taking any ideas from anyone else, I was just looking for some examples. I have actually 2 years experience from working in a florist so I do have plenty of knowledge and passion about it. I've already got all the pictures, plans, order forms and drawings of my bouquets, so as I said, it was just what other texts to include.

So sorry about making the thread, I am just very eager about doing the best possible...

hi everyones assignments are different as people have different writing styles
i would just start at the beginning and deal with each in order
not too sure what you have to do but on our portfolios it was photographic evidence, method, time taken, commercial viability,costings,and evaluations
good luck oh and make sure you state which gauge wires your using if any of the work is wired work and mention principles and elements too
just explain so the reader understands what you have done in order to complete your design

Thanks a lot Had no idea about the wires, which I actually have used, so I'll take a note of that!!

you have to make sure you cover everything ie binding point hiding the mechanics etc etc

Does the college not have old assignments you can look at? I'm doing a diploma in garden design and we have access to previous students work.

The teacher promised us she would show us some last week, but she had forgotten about it..!

Funny that, I had a tutor who was the same, totally disorganised.
