yeah i think they have to still go to college couldn't they get the train or something, part time courses are only one day a week. I used to get the train to Reaseheath before I could drive.. it took two hours but as soon as I could drive it was easier

actually I think if you're working a few days in a shop part time is better. I managed to get my part time two year course done in a year because I got so many assessments done at work

after what you've been saying sarah, it looks like they will have to go to college if they really want the qualifications then. I was just trying to save them the long journey (and the loss of staff for a day if i'm honest!!)

yep defo on that side they have to go one day at least a week maybe they do a night class couse though also they don't expect them in college at busy times, once they sign up on a course then you have a visit frm the college to check everything thrugh with you and also check all health and saftey regs and fire regs are being meet and then thats it usally you will find you get a couple of days to choose for your staff to go to college

Have you looked at it from another angle? How many girls can you muster to do a course? There are the people who work for you and what about any other florists in the area. If you could get enough people together perhaps the college would be willing to set up a City and Guilds or NVQ course at a centre near you (perhaps a room in a church hall) for say one day a week and the students work in their shops as usual for the rest of the time.
Pots is right you definitely need to chat to the college about your staff and your own future career.
