I constantly get people in asking for jobs! Sorry to rub it in but it doesnt seem to be a problem down here. Now, whether most are any good is another matter!

Would there be enough work for all these florists to be squirreling away in their garages? I don't know, I am a mere student but something doesn't add up. If I can't get a job after I've finished I'll be squirrelling away in my garage (well not my garage cos I haven't got one or a basement come to that) cos something will have to pay back my fees for this course.

maybe there are more students down south than up north as well as noone wants part time arrrrrr

was it you frizzy that said there were 40 students on your course? where do all these florists go after qualifiying???!!! I have only come across two qualified florists to employ as staff in 8 years of trading! Its annoying!!

Yes Jo seriously, at the end of next June there will probably be over 100 qualified florists coming out of my college, that's why I am a bit worried. Some may possibly have dropped out over the summer, I'll see when I get back, but I doubt it will be that many. I do know in the full time courses there are a fair few 16-17 year old (they get it for free) who think it's an easy option and then realise the course is much harder than they thought, the girls I know on these courses really moan about them being disruptive etc so they probably won't make too big an impact on the employment front. Will just have to worry about it when the time comes.
May be all this students expect to just open from home without realising that it ain't gonna be as easy as they thought and give up on the idea of floristry all together.

Anyway Jo, how have you got time to sit on here. Get making some bouquets to sell.
