Judith Blacklock courses

Hi all,

Has anyone trained or currently training for the "business of floristry" certificate at the Judith Blacklock Flower School.

I'm quite interested in doing this and wondered what it was like?

Thanks

Kathleen

Hi Kathleen, I think Judith Blacklock is seen as more of a flower arranger than a florist so not sure if the course would be full of 'ladies who lunch'

You're doing C&G aren't you? If I was doing something additional to my C & G I would probably go for a Paula Pryke, Jane Packer or McQueens course as I love modern floristry designs - but its a huge outlay and in my view a 'nice to do' but not essential for getting into the business as you already have or will have a recognised floristry qualification.

If its for the business side of things as opposed to different styles of floristry that are not covered on C&G then I'd personally go for a business course of some sort and get a job in a florist.

my friend did an intensive McQueens course, I wouldn't normally recommend that sort of thing compared to a college based course, but she said it was fantastic, hard work but it gave her a good head start. Though I think some people just have talent and she is one of them!

Thanks for the replies!

Tree, yes I'm doing C&G, just wanting to do something extra thats a bit more "modern"! I suppose it was the business part of the course that attracted me, but like you mentioned, I was planning on trying to get a part-time job in a florist anyway. PS. I live in Kent aswell not far from you!

Kathleen

There's someone on my course who was at Greenwich for level 1. Did you do level 1 there?
