Ok I think I'm going to start a 15 week beginners course at my local horticultural college.

You've got supply your own tools and flowers and pretty much everything I think, I know they'll probably give me a list of bits to get but if you could suggest a few bits I can start collecting it would be very useful.

Everyone that I've told that I want to change my career and to what have laughed at me!!! Doesn't look like I'm going to get much support on this one.....

Unfortunately not many people do take floristry seriously, my aust still asks me how the flower arrangings going (bitch).

Tools, secatuers, scissors, stapler, knife, string, you will need wires but there are many diferent kinds, I'm sure the college will sell them in smaller quantities than you get in the wholesalers, stemtex tape. There is loads more, our college got us a great bag together with everything in to start us off, you'll need a tool box to put it all in. You may not want to go too mad as you might decide you don't like it after the 15 weeks and stuff can br pretty expensive. There is a student package you can get online from one of the companies I'll have a look and let you know.

Here we are, don't now how far away from a wholesaler you are or if they'll let you in even so don't really know if the price is competitive or not, maybe one of the florists can answer that.

Thanks Frizzytwig I'll take a look. Trying to my family to pay from my course as my xmas prezzie, it's only £85 then £25 for the C & G Registration. Then it'll leave me a bit extra to buy bits needed. Even if I do buy lots my nan does a bit so I can pass them on to her if I don't like it.

I think Oasis do a tool box with all the kit you need. Not the budget option though. You dont need huge amounts of stuff, decent scissors, knife, secateurs, rose strippers will get you started and the college will probably sell you things like wires, oasis, bindwire etc.

hello, i brought everything like they said about, what i always found was there was never enough buckets to put ur flowers in, so i brought one, i also brought myself a large bad (shoulder type) to put my folders in, plenty of pens and note pads,

should of said large bag, missed typed haha....good luck kay
