May I give you some advice Simone. Be totally honest with the florist who you will work for. Don't pretend to be able to do something you are not sure of. Better for her to explain twice than you get it wrong and expensive stock is wasted. As it is unpaid work she knows you are there to learn. Don't be worried if she starts you on all the most boring and mundain tasks first. When I went into a florist unpaid to learn my first job was washing out the buckets! As I now have my own shop and am the chief bucket washer that training was invaluable. Make notes of everything you are shown. That way you will have something to look back on next time you do it. We can't be expected to remember everything at once so you could take the notebook into work and refer to it. Once the florist teaches you hand ties and arrangements, ask her if you can take photos of them. You can put these into a little folder as your training log. Along with your notes they will become your own record of achievement. It is the very best job in the world. So good luck with your course, and enjoy yourself in the shop. Don't forget to come on here and let us know how you are getting on. ![]()
