Hi,
Mine is The National Certificate in Floristry Lvl 2. So far the exams I have taken are, Table Posy, Basket Arrangement, Funeral Cross, Tied Sheaf, Topiary Tree, Line Arrangement and this week the Double Ended Spary, sure there is something else, but can't think of it at the moment We are doing mostly funeral work at the moment, just starting the ribbon edges around the funeral cushoins etc... Noooo haven't been asked to do that yet, all I've had so far is the Colour Wheel, so feel rather fortunate so far. Having said that, one lady is doing the 2yr course in just the one year but taking it two days a week. And she has said there is alot to do later on
So I guess I do have it all to come It is strange how it differs so much though, If I can ever help with anything just give us a shout. Belinda |

And the same extends to you too. It's nice to have someone doing the same things even if they are at different times. It can be hard when you have kids trying to get sorted although I don't have the struggle of preschoolers as well like you do. The financial burden of the nursery must be hell.
I visit this site most days (find it addictive) so if you ever want to chat give me a shout. My name's Sharon by the way |

Thank you Sharon, look forward to chatting to you.
I log-on most days too, allways browsing for some new ideas. Take care and have a nice evening, Talk soon Belinda |

When I was at college a few years ago, they provided flowers for us, admittedly they were rubbish and we had to re-use ones someone else had already used but at least they didn't cost anything.
A job in a shop would be your best bet to get you cheaper flowers or you could even negoiate to help out in return for your flowers if a shop didn't want to pay you as such. You might have better luck going into the shops you are trying to get a job at, I get sent loads of CVs but until you've met someone in person you don't know if they are suitable and often the people that phone or pop in into have a better chance. If you're feeling cheeky you could try getting friendly with the local shop and ask them if they could do you a student discount, especially if you promise to get all your class to buy from them as well. (we do discount for the church ladies) As for sundries you'd be better getting a trade card at your nearest big supplier and buying your oasis etc in boxes

oh forgot to say..I'm not sure if the course has changed now but I did NVQs too and I got a lot of my assessments done while at working in a florist(shop orders), as long as you have a senior member of staff to sign off your work and you take a photo you can get a lot done, which is another good reason for a job in a shop.
The forms are a bit faffy, so I used to wait till I got my photos back, fill in all the forms then get whoever at the shop to sign it and add the relevant comments.

Yes my NVQ's were the same and being in the shop meant not having to do as much at college and so I did evenings at college and because of working in the shop was able to do it all in 1year took photos of everthing I did in shop checking of deliveries, invoices, conditioning of flowers, washing vases/buckets setting up outdoor/indoor display opening/closing cashing up just photograph everything you do
