Hi Ian,
the 1st course I did was via a school in Australia. At the time it suited my needs as was travelling a lot with my job so couldn't go to a college here every week. When I started my City and Guilds a year later, I found I was ahead of most of the others on the course as I had obviously had that headstart (mainly in terms of technicals e.g. wiring). The course was 30 x lessons and I would email the photos for evaluation; of the 30 there was about 3 I had to re-do as they were'nt good enough. At the end of the course 5 arrangements were set as an 'exam' together with multiple choice questions. The downside is that you don't have interaction with other students or the tutor face to face which I personally much prefer. Still, as I said it suited my needs at the time but knew that I had to get a UK recognised qualification to progress. ![]()

I agree with you tree, these courses are Ideal for someone who wants a tater before embarking on a C&G or other qualifications. They are good if this type of study suites your needs. I did a nursing degree with the OU, again like yourself I much prefer the interaction with others, but as I was working full-time in A&E this suited me.

Did it in 2003/2004. Started it just before I did my City and Guilds and finished half way through the course.
